Session Descriptions

Intro to High Power Rocketry - Many NAR fliers remain reserved about moving from low power into high power rocketry. In this introductory session the flier is introduced to the concepts that need to be considered when building and flying high power rockets. The instructor, Dave Greenapple is a Level 3 certified high power flyer and a teaches an expanded version of this course as an adult extension program.

High Power Rocketry Recovery Harnesses - If you have been to a any large event in the North East and have seen Dan Michael land a rocket, you have witnessed some of the most graceful recoveries ever. In this session, Dan will discuss and demonstrate the various ways of how to wrap  recovery components for successful deployment in High Power Rockets. Dan Michael is an NAR Level 3 High Power Flyer, L3CC Member, and East Coast Aerotech Representative.

Techniques in Dual Deployment - A major component of high power rocketry is a dual deployment system to ensure a controlled recovery of larger, higher flying airframes. In this session the flier is introduced to how electronics are used to manage the recovery process. Primary focus is on the use of altimeters. Gene Costanza is a Level 3 certified high power flier and a member of the Level 3 Certification Committee.

High Power Rocketry Construction Techniques - In this session Dan Michael will use some of his rockets and review the techniques and proper construction of large High Power rockets.  Dan Michael is an NAR Level 3 High Power Flyer, L3CC Member, and East Coast Aerotech Representative.
