Session Descriptions

Beginning Competition Rocketry - Confused about the pink book? Think you need specialized models? Come to this session, learn some beginning competition strategies, ask your newbie questions, and if we get done early, we may even build an egglofter. NO BTCs  (Big Time Competitors) ALLOWED! This session is presented by Jennifer Ash Poole, NAR Trustee and well known contest flyer.

Competition Boost Gliders - Ever been to a launch and watched the contest folk fly those little gliders that just seem to stay up there forever? Well, now you can learn how they do it. In this detailed Presentation you will come away with the knowledge of how to build a first-rate boost glider that will put you in the running with the other contest flyers. Presented by Trip Barber, President of the National Association of Rocketry  and a well regarded contest flyer.

Build the Lighthouse - This year the NARCON commemorative is a 24mm flying lighthouse The Nantucket Sound by Fliskits. During this session the kit designer will take you through the steps to build the lighthouse. Jim Flis is a key supporter of NARCON 2009, the owner of Fliskits and a manufacturer of some of the more unique low power kits. Note - the lighthouse is not included, you will need to buy your own for this session.

Dumpster Diving (A Scratch Builders Odyssey) - Who says you need to buy a rocket kit? Not the model rocketry team of Goodrich Rocket Works. They think there is another alternative - recycling! Plenty of stuff is available to the sufficiently trained scavenger. Brian Goodrich is a Level 1 high power flyer who, so far as we know, has never bought anything related to building a rocket.

Cluster Techniques - If one motor is good, and two or three (or even four) is better, then what is twenty? According to your instructor, a good start. Boris Katan is one of the best known clustering experts in the northeast.
