CATO Rocketry - CATO XCI Launch Report

We have had two absolutely beautiful launches in about a week. It does not get any better than this.

Highlights

83 flights
About 20 flyers
1 successful L1 certification - Dave Ristow on his rigtailes scratchbuilt
The weather was absolutely perfect. If we have another day like this, I'm bringing a hard hat as it was raining rockets.
1 CATO - Brad Martins stretch Stongarm had a blowout
1 in-flight CATO - A Small Endeavor immolated itself in flight. Looked to be like a forward seal failure.
Brad Martin lost more than I successfully flew.
Ross Tracey's Pterodactyl is currently nesting in a tree. Ulf is going to look into availability of the tree monkey to fetch it. I plan to ask Joe to see if The frink's mind if we down the tree.
Chuck was elected Secretary
I had a bad run of igniter failures. Got the shortest flight of the day. About 2" on an H144 - hopefully it was just the igniter.

I have had several requests to hold the next launch in Sterling. It all depends on the planting. If we can, I will. Otherwise we are Durham bound.

Trailer day is 4/30 at BMICAD. Club will buy food and the Sweedish Chef will man the grill or at least that wok-thingy.

There were three contests today

A Altitude with a bunch of competetors.
G Altitude which drew no entries
The President's Cup -- Closest to an even multiple of 100 N-Sec without going over wins a prize.

Chuck's Warlock flight: Newly elected club secretary Chuck Longton (L2) prepares the motor for his Warlock; the walk out to the pads, igniter prep and one final photo before launch. What a liftoff! The Warlock descends with the Frink barn in the background. Great flight Chuck!

Dave Ristow's Level 1 Certification Flight: Chuck Longton watches and provides guidance as Dave assembles the motor for his flight; Dave with the flight ready "Enigma" before the trek to the pad; As Dave makes final checks to the igniter, daughter Jessica gives the "Enigma" a good luck kiss; The liftoff... and an obviously pleased Dave Ristow watches as the rocket returns. Congratulations Dave!
